On July 10, Quang Tri authorities organized a solemn ceremony to honor soldiers who sacrificed in the Quang Tri ancient citadel during the 81-day battle in 1972. At the ceremony, the giant book on the 81-day battle was offered to martyrs.
The book--100x70cm in size and 120kg in weight, is recorded as Vietnam’s record. The book is displayed at the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel Museum. 10,000 small-sized copies are also presented to families of the martyrs.
The book is part of a non-profit cultural project of the Centre for Information and Communications for Development Environment, under the Union of Hanoi Scientific and Technological Association.
This is the seventh episode of the set of books entitled “Legends of Vietnam”, which consists of: “Legends of Dien Bien”, “Legends of Truong Son”, “Legends of Phu Quoc Island”, “Legends of Con Dao Islands”, “Legends of Vietnamese Vanguards” and “Legends of U Minh Forest”.
Earlier, Quang Tri authorities organized a great requiem for martyrs on the southern bank of the Thach Han River, with the presence of 500 veterans and around 100 martyrs’ families and local people.
