Country celebrates ‘War Invalids and Martyrs Day’
Truong Thi Anh, deputy chairwoman of the People's Council of Ho Chi Minh City, led a delegation from the People's Council, the People’s Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front to visit and offer gifts to war heroic mothers in District 8 and Binh Chanh District on July 23 on occasion of the 65th anniversary of ‘War Invalids and Martyrs Day’ (July 27).

Ms.Anh paid tribute to the mothers including Nguyen Thi Het, Tran Thi Nhut, Nguyen Thi Tuoi, Nguyen Thi Trong and Nguyen Thi Hai and expressed her deep gratitude to their great contribution and sacrifice towards the cause of national liberation and reconstruction. She also wished them good health and a long life.

On the same day, the HCMC Women's Union presented gifts to Vietnamese war heroic mothers in Cu Chi District, including Pham Thi Chanh, Pham Thi Hieu, Nguyen Thi Ngoi, Nguyen Thi Dao, Nguyen Thi Tam, Pham Thi Cuu and Bui Thi Ben in Phuoc Hiep, Phuoc Thanh and Tan Phu Trung.

In addition, the People’s Committee of the central highland province of Kon Tum awarded certificates of merit to 12 organizations and 70 individuals who have made outstanding contributions in taking care of their fellow countrymen.

Nguyen Van Cao, chairman of the People’s Committee of Thua Thien-Hue Province, also led a delegation to offer incense and flowers to martyrs at the Truong Son National Martyr Cemetery on July 23.

Relevant provincial departments cooperated with Thua Thien-Hue Young Business Association to present gifts to Vietnamese heroic mothers, and families of martyrs and wounded soldiers; as well as give away free medical treatment to 200 disadvantaged people in Quang Dien District.

Also, an inauguration ceremony of Phase 1 of National Martyrs’ Cemetery Road 9 in Quang Tri Province was held on July 22. The Phase-1 upgrade cost VND40 billion and includes improving the belfry, the monument, and an assembly hall.

The People’s Committee of Dak Nong Province and the provincial Buddhist Sangha will organize a requiem for martyrs at the Dak Nong Province Martyr Cemetery on July 24. Local authorities will visit and offer gifts to wounded soldiers and martyrs’ families.

Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee and Ba Da Pagoda donated presents to 400 credited and disadvantaged households and offered money to build two charity houses in Hoa Hiep Nam and Hoa Hiep Bac Wards in Ngu Hanh Son District.
