The remains were identified and handed over to their families, the Huong Hoa District Military Command announced.
Two of them were returned to their hometowns in the northern provinces of Phu Tho and Yen Bai, while the other was buried in the cemetery for local martyrs.
A Dan Tri report quoted Nguyen Thuan Hue, chief of the military command, as saying that they found the remains on Wednesday and Tuesday at the Ta Con Airport thanks to a local tip-off.
He said related agencies’ initial conclusions were that the soldiers died during a campaign aimed to free Huong Hoa in 1969.
