The French branch of the Vietnam Association for Child Victims of Agent Orange (AO)/Dioxin has held a fundraising concert in Zurich, Switzerland.
The Embassy of Vietnam in Switzerland assisted with the event, part of activities celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Switzerland-Vietnam Friendship Association.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Switzerland Nguyen The Phiet addressed the concert, remarking on the association’s considerable contributions to both Vietnamese AO/Dioxin victims and the friendship between Vietnam and Switzerland.
Anjuska Weil, President of the Switzerland-Vietnam Friendship Association, noted that since 1980 the association has learned much about the impact of AO/Dioxin through scientists like Prof. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Phuong, Prof. Le Cao Dai, Prof. Vo Quy, and the Vietnamese AO/Dioxin victims themselves.
The association has attempted to bring the issue to the Swiss people’s attention through establishing websites, holding exhibitions, giving lectures, and organising other cultural activities, she added.
Weil also said initiatives on behalf of Vietnam’s AO/Dioxin victims would remain the association’s primary focus in the future, but additional projects, like offering loan capital to the elderly and conducting Vietnamese spring research visits, also reinforce the two countries’ friendship.
