Mr. Marko Walde, chief representative of German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam, said that Mr. Rösler, accompanied by a delegation of German businessmen, will visit Vietnam from September 17 to 19.
The Vietnamese-born German politician will meet with Vietnamese leaders and attend the Germany-Vietnam Economic Forum in HCM City on September 19.
According to VNA, Rösler met with the Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Nguyen Thi Hoang Anh in Berlin on August 22. He told the Vietnamese Ambassador that he hoped his visit would strengthen the strategic partnership between Germany and Vietnam.
Vietnam is part of Germany’s economic development strategy, he said.
He praised the Vietnamese community in Germany for their integration into German society. He also said that Vietnamese students achieved good academic results thanks to their family culture and their respect for learning.
He said he wished to expand the teaching and learning of the German language in Vietnam to create favorable conditions for the development of Germany-Vietnam ties.
He wanted to take his family to Vietnam to learn about their origin.
Philipp Rösler, 39, is a Vietnamese-born German politician, who, since May 2011, has been the Federal Minister of Economics and Technology. He is the Chairman of the liberal Free Democratic Party (since 2011).
A physician by profession, he served as Minister for Economics and Deputy Prime Minister of the state of Lower Saxony February–October 2009. He was the Federal Minister of Health in the second Merkel Cabinet from 2009 to 2011 and became Federal Minister of Economics and Technology in the cabinet in 2011. He is of Vietnamese origin and was adopted by a German couple when he was still an infant.
